ابن داود الأصبهاني (255 - 297 هـ = 869 - 910 م)
محمد بن داود بن علي بن خلف الظاهري، أبو بكر: أديب، مناظر، شاعر، قال الصفدي: الإمام ابن الإمام، من أذكياء العالم.
أصله من أصبهان.
ولد وعاش ببغداد، وتوفي بها مقتولا.
كان يلقب بعصفور الشوك لنحافته وصفرة لونه.
له كتب، منها (الزهرة - ط) الأول منه، في الأدب، و (أوراق من ديوانه - ط) و (الوصول إلى معرفة الأصول) و (الانتصار على محمد بن جرير و عبد الله بن شرشير وعيسى بن إبراهيم الضرير) و (اختلاف مسائل الصحابة).
وهو ابن الإمام داود الظاهري الذي ينسب إليه المذهب الظاهري
