أبو عروبة (000 - 318 هـ = 000 - 930 م)
الحسين بن محمد بن مودود السلمي الحراني: محدث حران ومفتيها. كان حافظا للحديث، عارفا برجاله.
له (تاريخ) وكتاب في (الأمثال والأوائل) و (الطبقات) اختصره من يرجح أنه عبد الغني بن عبد الواحد المقدسي (المتوفى سنة 600) وسماه (منتقى طبقات أبي عروبة - خ) [ ثم طُبع] الجزء الثاني منه (12 ورقة) في الظاهرية بدمشق.
ولعله المتقدم باسم (التاريخ)
