يتناول الكتاب تبدل مناخ العالم حتى عام 2150، خاصة الدول والأقاليم التي ستختفي من الوجود والدول والأقاليم التي سوف تصاب بكوارث والدول والأقاليم التي سوف تعيش الرفاه والجنة الحضارية.
ويقول الدكتور عبدالقادر الهواري: نتيجة لعوامل مزمنة تغير المناخ يمثل الحدث الكوني الأول، فأكبر خمس أخطار تواجه العالم هى أسلحة الدمار الشامل، أما الأخطار الأربعة المتبقية فجميعها تتصل مباشرةً بالمناخ واستمرار تغيره لعدة قرون متتالية، والجديد هو حدوث تغيرات في الإنسان وكوارث في الدول الفقيرة أكثر منها في الدول الغنية بالرغم من كونها لا تساهم بنسبة كبيرة فيها.
أضاف الهواري: رغم ذلك يبقى المؤهلين لدمج النماذج المناخية المستقبلية والمتخصصين دون المستوى المطلوب، بل وبعض اتفاقات الحد من الإنبعاثات تحولت إلى وسيلة بيد دول معينة لإبقاء دول أخرى خارج الجنة الحضارية، فالسعي لمستقبل أفضل ممنوع بهدف وقف عجلة النمو بدول، ومسموح تحقيق مزيد من تقدم ورفاه الحلم الأمريكي، وعلى حساب كل الكوكب الحي.
