فوق جبال الأوراس الشاهقة ، داخلها وبين كثافة أشجارها ، هدوء صاخب يزيد مظهرها هيبة ، هوائها العليل شحنة المناضلين ، رائحة تربتها الخصبة الطيبة التي لا يستنشقها إلا من حمل سلاحه وقرر أن يكتشف دهاليزها ليعيش فيها ويفيدها بروحه ماله وأهله لأراضيها .. في أراضي الأوراس حيث المدن والقرى الشعبية ، ووسط أزقتها الضيقة بيوت مرصوصة على اليمين وعلى الشمال تشبه بعضها البعض في شكلها فأحجامها متشابهة نسبيا أبوابها خشبية على كل جدار تظل أشجار عنب أو تفاح أو فاكهة آخرى وكأنها تود الفرار من فناء ذلك البيت وتخبرنا أن البيوت والأبواب تتشابه ولكن خلف كل باب حكاية ، ووراء كل جدار رواية ، تتشابه الحكايات في أساليب سردها غير أنها تختلف في مشاهدها ، تشترك في بعض الفصول لكن في كثير من التفاصيل .
