الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي تُرافِقُه الفَلسَفةُ لا يَمُوتُ أبَدًا. هَكَذا نَقشَتِ الفَلسَفةُ اسْمَ «بوئثيوس» فِي الذَّاكِرةِ الإنْسانِيَّة؛ فَبَينَما كانَ يَقبَعُ فِي سِجنِهِ مُنتظِرًا أنْ يُؤمَرَ الجَلَّادُ بِفَصْلِ رَأسِ الحِكمَةِ عَن جَسَدِها، إِذَا بِهِ يَكتُبُ لنَا «عَزَاء الفَلسَفةِ»؛ دُرَّةَ أَعمالِهِ وأَحدَ أَهمِّ الكُتُبِ الفَلسَفيَّةِ الَّتي مَهَّدَتِ الطَّرِيقَ أَمامَ الفَلسَفةِ الأَرِسطيَّةِ فِي الغَربِ الأُورُوبيِّ طَوَالَ العُصُورِ الوُسْطَى، لِيُصبِحَ بَعدَها الكِتابَ الأَكثَرَ تَدَاوُلًا بَعدَ الكِتابِ المُقدَّسِ طَوَالَ عَشَرةِ قُرُونٍ تَالِية. ولَا يَزالُ «عَزَاءُ الفَلسَفةِ» مَوضُوعَ نِقَاشٍ بَينَ كَثِيرٍ مِنَ المُتخَصِّصِينَ وَالمُثَقَّفِينَ حَولَ ما أَثَارهُ مِن آرَاءٍ وأَفْكَار، ومَا تَناوَلَهُ مِن عَرْضٍ وَتَحلِيل.
