وَلَكِنْ إِذَا عُرِفَ السَّبَبُ بَطَلَ الْعَجَبُ؛ فَالْقُنْدُسُ بادي — ابْنُ عَمِّ فَأْرِ الْمِسْكِ جيري — يَبْدُو أَنَّهُ قَدْ جَاءَ إِلَى الْجَنُوبِ لِيُهَيِّئَ لِنَفْسِهِ بَيْتًا جَدِيدًا؛ وَبِنَاءً عَلَيْهِ اضْطُرَّ إِلَى إِيقَافِ الْمِيَاهِ الْمُتَدَفِّقَةِ فِي الْجَدْوَلِ الضَّاحِكِ وَالْبِرْكَةِ الْبَاسِمَةِ لِيَصْنَعَ لِنَفْسِهِ بِرْكَةً جَدِيدَةً جَمِيلَةً، وَبَيْتًا مُرِيحًا مِنَ الْعِصِيِّ وَالطِّينِ. وَلَكِنْ مَا مَصِيرُ الْمَجَارِي الْمَائِيَّةِ فِي الْغَابَةِ الْخَضْرَاءِ؟
