نِقولا فياض: هو شاعر ومترجم لبناني وخطيب وطبيب وعضو المجمع العلمي العربي (مجمع اللغة العربية) بدمشق.
ولد عام ١٨٧٣م بمدينة بيروت في أسرة تهوى الأدب والفن والشعر، حيث كان أخوه الشاعر الشهير «إلياس فياض». تلقى تعليمه في مدرسة «الأقمار الثلاثة» الأرثوذكسية وبعد أن تخرج من المدرسة عمل لمدة سنتين في التجارة ثم تركها والتحق بكلية الطب الفرنسية ببيروت، حيث عمل طبيبًا بعد التخرج بإحدى المستشفيات إلى أن سافر عام ١٩٠٦م إلى باريس للتخصص في الطب فأمضى فيها خمس سنوات عاد بعدها إلى مصر، حيث أمضى عشرين عامًا تقريبًا متنقلًا بين الإسكندرية والقاهرة.
أحب الأدب والشعر منذ صغره وأسهم بالحركة الأدبية منذ شبابه وظل يكتب أثناء سنوات عمله إلى أن تفرغ كليًّا لممارسة الطب والأدب والترجمة بعد أن ترك الوظائف الحكومية، وقد قدم للمكتبة العربية العديد من الأعمال الأدبية المتميزة فوضع كتابًا متميزًا في الخطابة وأساليبها وكذلك ترجم العديد من الأعمال الشعرية والمسرحية منها قصيدة «البحيرة» للشاعر الفرنسي «ألفونس دى لامارتين».
توفي في عام ١٩٥٨م عن عمر يناهز الخامسة والثمانين.

الأُقْحوانُ زهرةٌ بهيَّةُ المَنظَر، شافيةُ الأَثَر، لَكأنَّ في رَفِيفِها إيذانًا بذَهابِ أوجاعِ ما يَربُو على سبعةِ عُقودٍ من عُمرِ الشَّاعر، ﻓ «رفيف الأقحوان» يَحفِلُ بقصائدِ خمسِينَ عامًا مِن شِعرِ «نقولا فيَّاض»، بالإضافةِ إلى أشعارِ صِباهُ التي كانَتْ باكُورتُها في مَدحِ مُعلِّمِه الذي غرَسَ في نفْسِه حُبَّ الشِّعرِ والأدب، فما كانَ مِنَ الشَّاعرِ إلَّا أنْ خصَّهُ بإهدائِهِ ديوانَه الأولَ الذي بينَ أيدينا. يَستهِلُّ فيَّاض مجموعتَه بقصيدةِ «البحيرة»؛ رائعةِ الشاعرِ الفرنسيِّ «لامارتين»، أمَّا باقِي قصائدِ الديوانِ فهي في مُجمَلِها مُواكَبَةٌ عَذْبةٌ لحياةِ ناظِمِها، فتًى وشيخًا؛ فقصيدةٌ في مَحفلٍ أدبيٍّ وآخَرَ علمي، وقصيدةٌ للبنان الوطن، وقصيدةٌ تَحتفِي بديوانِ «أحمد شوقي» الأول، وقصيدةٌ في تأبينِ أخ، وأخرى في رثاءِ صديق، وقصيدةٌ في مدْحِ النبيِّ محمدٍ في ذِكرى مَولدِهِ الشريف، وقصيدةٌ تُحاوِرُ مُومِياواتِ الفَراعِنة، والكثيرُ من الرَّفِيف.
