يأتي هذا الكتاب وقد ولجنا إلى القرن الحادي والعشرين الذي يتميز بالانفجار المعرفي، وتطور العلوم في مجالاتها المختلفة، وبصورة خاصة العلوم النفسية والتربوية منها التي تحث على تنمية الفرد والاهتمام به في جميع النواحي الجسمية والعقلية والانفعالية والاجتماعية.
في ضوء هذا التطور السريع اصبح لزاماً على المعلم أن يتطور، فلم يعد دوره ناقلاً للمعرفة، بل لا بد من إعداده علمياً وثقافياً ومهنياً ليتمكن من إدارة صفه بشكل جيد، وتطبيق الأساليب التربوية الصحيحة فإدارة الصف تعد فناً وعلماً، فمن الناحية الفنية تعتمد هذه الإدارة على شخصية المعلم وأسلوبه في التعامل مع تلاميذه، وتعد إدارة الصف علماً بذاته بقوانينه وإجراءاته.
من هذا المنطلق استهدف هذا الكتاب تقديم إطار معرفي يمكن أن يسهم في تنمية المهارات المرتبطة بإدارة الصف، بغية إحداث التعليم المنشود. وقد اشتمل على مهارات الاتصال، وجذب الانتباه، وإثارة الواقعية وتوجيه التعزيز، وفن طرح الاسئلة وحسن إدارة الصف، ودور المعلم ومساهمته في إدارة الصف، وأهمية الرجوع في عملية التعليم والتعلم إلى مبادىء وقواعد الإدارة الصفية.
إنّ التصور الذي قدمته المؤلفة حول إدارة الصف ومهارته لا يعني ان المعلم اصبح حرفياً آلياً، فإدارة الصف عملية إنسانية يتحكم فيها عدد من المتغيرات مثل مدخلات ومخرجات التعلم، وانشطة تعلم التلاميذ وسلوك المعلم وكفاياته وخصائص التلاميذ، وبيئة التعلم، وغيرها من المتغيرات التي يصعب حصرها.
قد يشعر بعض المعلمين حالياً أكثر من اي وقت مضى بحيرة إزاء بعض المشكلات الصفية، حيث يكاد لا يخلو صف من الصفوف المدرسية من بعض المشكلات.
