مارون بن حنا بن الخوري يوحنا عبّود (1886 - 1962)، كاتب وأديب لبناني كبير.. ولد في عين كفاع (من قرى جبيل).
حياته
في سنواته في المدرسة أبدى ميولا أدبية وتفوق في مجال اللغة العربية كما أصدر في عامه الدراسي الأخير مجلة أدبية أسماها الصاعقة. كان قد بدأ بكتابة القصائد ونشر بعضها في جريدة الروضة. أدخله إلى مدرسة مار يوحنا مارون. التي أمضى فيها أربعة أعوام ولكنه رفض الأستمرار فيها لأن أباه كان يقصد بإلحاقه بها أن يهيأه للحياة الكهنوتية ما رغب عنه مارون ورفضه رفضا قاطعا. بعد ذلك التحق بمدرسة الحكمة حيث أمضى فيها سنتين. وقد وجد مارون في هذه المدرسة الجو المؤاتي لتفتح مواهبه الأدبية كما احتك بعدد من الطلاب المولعين بالشعر أمثلا: رشيد تقي الدين وأحمد تقي الدين وسعيد عقل وغيرهم.
وفاته
توفي مارون عبود عام 1962 عن عمر يناهز السابعة والسبعين.

من نسيج الأثير الإذاعي ينسج مارون عبود مادةً للنقد الأدبي ينقد من خلالها الأحاديث الشعرية والنثرية التي أذاعتها محطة الشرق الأدنى, ويتطرق من خلالها إلى الأعمال الأدبية التي أنتجها الكُتاب مُعَقبًا على ما استحسنه منها, وما أثار حفيظته الأدبية, وملكته النقدية من هذه الأعمال. كما يهتم بتقييم الأسلوب الحواري لمديري الحديث الإذاعي؛ وذلك من خلال تنويهه على بعض الأخطاء اللغوية التي شابت أسلوبهم؛ فنالت من بريق أحاديثهم, وقد رُتبَت أحاديث هذا الكتاب وفقًا لأسماء الشخصيات التي دار معها الحوار. وهو لا يكتفي في هذا الكتاب بعرض القضايا الأدبية؛ بل يتطرق إلى عدد من القضايا الاجتماعية التي تشغل الضمير الإنساني العام كقضية حقوق الإنسان. ومَنْ يقرأ هذا الكتاب يجد أنه أشبه بالحوار الأدبي الذي يحلُّ ضيفًا في حضرة الحديث الإذاعي, وكأن دار ندوة الأدب قد نُقِلَت عبر أثير من إبداع العرب.
