«نبذة عن الصّين» كتبه الأديب والسّياسي تربي أبو العز، والأديب عبد العزيز حمد، يتناول الصّين تاريخًا وجغرافية، ويتطرّق إليها من عدة جوانب مثل أقسامها، ومعادنها، والكائنات التي تعيش فيها من حيوانات ونباتات، وتحدّث عن: المحاصيل، أشهر المدن، التجارة، المساحة، التاريخ، الإسلام في الصّين، نظام الحكومة، المخترعات، الآثار، الصحافة، التمثيل والروايات، والأخلاق وعادات المجتمع، والفلسفة والعلوم.
يشير الكتاب إلى دلائل التاريخ التي تقول أنه إذا لم تكن الصين أقدم بلاد العالم بأسره، فهي ولا شك من أقدمها وأسبقها إلى المدنيّة والعمران، إلا أنها بقيت مجهولة منزوية لا يسمع الناس عنها شيئًا حتى دخلها العرب، وكتبوا عنها كتابات كثيرة، وجّهت أنظار العالم إليها، وربما كان البعد الجغرافي والحاجز اللغوي سببًا في أن تظلّ هذه الحضارة مجهولة إلى فترات طويلة.
لا شكّ أن مؤلفا هذا الكتاب قد بذلا جهدًا كبيرًا، خاصة وأنهما قد وضعاه في بداية القرن التاسع عشر، حيث كان جمع المعلومات والرحلة إلى بلدٍ بعيد يتطلّب جهدًا ومشقّة بالغة.
