مارون بن حنا بن الخوري يوحنا عبّود (1886 - 1962)، كاتب وأديب لبناني كبير.. ولد في عين كفاع (من قرى جبيل).
حياته
في سنواته في المدرسة أبدى ميولا أدبية وتفوق في مجال اللغة العربية كما أصدر في عامه الدراسي الأخير مجلة أدبية أسماها الصاعقة. كان قد بدأ بكتابة القصائد ونشر بعضها في جريدة الروضة. أدخله إلى مدرسة مار يوحنا مارون. التي أمضى فيها أربعة أعوام ولكنه رفض الأستمرار فيها لأن أباه كان يقصد بإلحاقه بها أن يهيأه للحياة الكهنوتية ما رغب عنه مارون ورفضه رفضا قاطعا. بعد ذلك التحق بمدرسة الحكمة حيث أمضى فيها سنتين. وقد وجد مارون في هذه المدرسة الجو المؤاتي لتفتح مواهبه الأدبية كما احتك بعدد من الطلاب المولعين بالشعر أمثلا: رشيد تقي الدين وأحمد تقي الدين وسعيد عقل وغيرهم.
وفاته
توفي مارون عبود عام 1962 عن عمر يناهز السابعة والسبعين.

« قبل انفجار البركان» مقالات وخواطر تقدّم صورةً حية عن لبنان في منتصف القرن العشرين، للكاتب مارون عبّود، يضيف إليها حكاياتٍ من وحي تجربته الشّخصيّة، أو يدعمها بأحداث حصلت مع آخرين، أو قد يستمدّها من التراث والخيال، في دعوةٍ منه إلى تطهير لبنان من الفساد.
ناقش مشكلات الأوضاع السياسيّة السيّئة في لبنان خلال النصف الأوّل من القرن الماضي، ومن هذه القضايا: تعديل الدستور كي يتلاءم مع الحقبة الجديدة، ومحاربة الطائفيّة التى انتشر داؤها في البلاد آنذاك، وأخّرت التقدّم والنّهوض بأركان المجتمع.
تناول قضايا الانتخابات البرلمانيّة والرئاسيّة منوّهًا إلى سوء عاقبة بيع الأصوات وشرائها، ثمّ دعى المرأةَ إلى خدمة وطنها من خلال بذل الجهد في الحفاظ على سلامة بيتها وأبنائها والعناية بالتّربية بدلًا من الاشتراك في ميدان القتال، وهذا بمثابة دعوةٍ منه لترك الميادين للرّجال مناهضةً ضدّ حركة تجنيد النّساء التي قامت بها إسرائيل آنذاك.
حثّ الكتاب على العناية بالميزانيّة العامة للدّولة، وعلى علاج مشكلات الأوقاف وزيادة المعاشات، والعنايةِ بالحقّ العام.
