مارون بن حنا بن الخوري يوحنا عبّود (1886 - 1962)، كاتب وأديب لبناني كبير.. ولد في عين كفاع (من قرى جبيل).
حياته
في سنواته في المدرسة أبدى ميولا أدبية وتفوق في مجال اللغة العربية كما أصدر في عامه الدراسي الأخير مجلة أدبية أسماها الصاعقة. كان قد بدأ بكتابة القصائد ونشر بعضها في جريدة الروضة. أدخله إلى مدرسة مار يوحنا مارون. التي أمضى فيها أربعة أعوام ولكنه رفض الأستمرار فيها لأن أباه كان يقصد بإلحاقه بها أن يهيأه للحياة الكهنوتية ما رغب عنه مارون ورفضه رفضا قاطعا. بعد ذلك التحق بمدرسة الحكمة حيث أمضى فيها سنتين. وقد وجد مارون في هذه المدرسة الجو المؤاتي لتفتح مواهبه الأدبية كما احتك بعدد من الطلاب المولعين بالشعر أمثلا: رشيد تقي الدين وأحمد تقي الدين وسعيد عقل وغيرهم.
وفاته
توفي مارون عبود عام 1962 عن عمر يناهز السابعة والسبعين.

Book Description
هي مجموعة قصصيّة للأديب اللبناني مارون عبود، تضمُّ أربعًا وعشرين قصة من القَصص الرّيفي، اتّسمت بطابعٍ من اللون المحلِّيِّ، واستخدام العاميّة في بعض المواضع منها، يقدّم صورةً عن القرية اللبنانيّة في مختلف الجوانب، من خلال أحداث واقعيّة أو أسطوريّة. تعمّق في الأبعاد النّفسيّة لشخوص الحكايات، كما أعطى إضاءةً عن العوالم الخرجيّة مُبديًا مفارقاتٍ بين المجتمع القرويّ والمدني.
تراه في قصّته الأولى يتناول أبي نعّوم، بأجواء شّخصيّتة المرتبطة بعالمه القروي المحيط، فيقول: "أبو نعوم فات التسعين بضع خطوات وظل يروح ويجيء. لم تهرهر التسعون جدران بنيته الشامخة، هيكل ضخم، أحكم بنيانه مناخُ قريته الجبليّة، فكأنما استُعيرت موادّه من صخور ضيعته السّمراء. حاجبان ثقيلان، ورأس مدوّر أسمر، نحاسي، خربش الزمن حول أنفه الأفطس خطوطًا مزرقَّة كأنها الزنجار.
ما شأن ذلك الوجه الصلب في شيخوخة أبي نعوم المباركة إلا رمدٌ ربيعي اجتمع أشدّه في السبعين، فصارت حدقتاه كعيني الوروار. وفي الثمانين ارتخى جفناه فانقلبا ظهرًا لبطن، أمّا عقله وجميع حواسّه فما أخذت منها الأيّام شيئًا".
