بيار كورناي: (١٦٠٦م–١٦٨٤م) يعتبر من أعظم المسرحيين الكلاسيكيين الغربيين، وكانت كتاباته تركز على الصراع بين الحب والشرف، ومن أشهر ما كتب مسرحية «السيد».

« السّيّد» رواية مسرحيّة لمؤلّفها بيار كورناي، وهو من أعظم المسرحيّين الكلاسيكيّين في الغرب، ترجمها إلى العربيّة خليل مطران، وقد اجتمع الرّأي على اعتبارها فاتحة العصر الذهبي في تاريخ المسرح الفرنسي.
تتألّف من خمسة فصول، وتتناول الحبّ في زمن تعلو فيه الأخلاق على كلّ الدّوافع، فتمثل الصراع بين الحبّ النّبيل والواجب، تقع (شيمان) وهي بنت الكونت (دن غوميز) في حبّ فتى من فرسان الدّولة وهو دن ردريك (لذريق).
يتقدّم لذريق لخطبتها، ويراه والدها وهو سيّد مقاطعة جورماس منافسًا مناسبًا للفارس (دن سنش)، لكنّه يجد في الأوّل صفات الفارس الحقيقيّة ويقول فيه: "تحدّر من أصل كثر فيه عديد أحلاس الحرب، حتى كأنهم يولدون بين أغصان الغار، أبوه تفرّد في زمانه، فضُرِبت به الأمثال، خطّت معاركه آياتها، فهي تحدثنا إلى اليوم عما كان شأنه في عصره".
يكون والد لذريق مرشدًا لأمير مقاطعة قشتالة، التي يحكمها الملك (دن فرناند)، وهنا تتأزّم الأمور حيث تنافس بنت الملك (دونا أوراك) (شيمان) على حبّ (لذريق).
