تُعد أزمة العقل العربي من أهم المشكلات التي يتناولها الفكر العربي المعاصر، على مستوى التحليل الفلسفي والديني والثقافي والاجتماعي، في ظل بديهية ارتباط المعرفة بالوعي، وبنية العقل الذي ينتج هذه المعرفة بتجلياتها المختلفة، فلم تزل جدلية العقل والوحي وطبيعة تأويل النص الديني والعلاقات الارتباطية للعقل العربي بالتراث وعلومه وأفكاره وعقائده هي البنية التحتية التي تحدد موقف العقل العربي المعاصر من قضاياه المختلفة، وتوجه جدله مع الواقع والحداثة ومعطياتها، وهي ما تختبر قدرة العقل العربي على مواجهة مشكلات عصره والتعامل مع مستحدثات الظرف التاريخي الراهن، ولم يزل الصراع بين البنيتين الأصولية والعلمانية حديثاً هو ما يحكم توجهات الثقافة العربية ومشروعات الإصلاح الديني، ويحدد طبيعة الممارسات السياسية والاجتماعية التي تشكل أنساق المجتمع وتوجه مسار الفكر وترسم خارطة الواقع، فلم يزل العقل العربي غارقاً في تسلُّفه وارتباطه بالتراث القديم؛ ارتباطاً نمطياً مقيداً بالتقليد والمحاكاة وتقديس آراء السلف، ومحاولة سحب الماضي على الحاضر، وإنزال الفكر الديني القديم على الواقع المتغير، وتجميد حركة الواقع والتاريخ لصالح ثبوتية التأويل السلفي، وسكونية مدارس الفقه والتفسير الأصولي، الذي أغلق باب الاجتهاد وتخندق فيما أنتجه الفكر التراثي حتى القرن السابع الهجري؛
