لا يدّعي هذا الكتاب أنّه يُغطّي ملفّ النّزوح السوري في لبنان بشكل كامل، إنّما هو مجرّد قصص مُنتقاة من بين آلاف القصص والحكايات التي تتناول أوضاعهم وأوجاعهم خلال نزوحهم من سوريا إلى لبنان.
فمع إنطلاق التظاهرات الجماهيرية السلمية المطالبة بالحريّة في سوريّا، وتأثّراً بما جرى في كلّ من تونس ومصر، انطلقت الثورة السورية وعمّت أرجاء سوريّا بدءاً من درعاً مروراً بالريف والمدن وصولاً إلى العاصمة دمشق، واجهها النظام بالقتل والإعتقال، فتحوّلت إلى ثورة مسلّحة أدّت إلى حرب طاحنة بينها وبين النظام، حصدت مئات الآلاف من القتلى والجرحى وتدمير شامل لمدن وقرى وأحياء، وتهجير الملايين إلى إرجاء العالم ومنها لبنان.
وكما تعاطفنا في لبنان مع ثورات تونس ومصر وليبيا واليمن، وتظاهرنا أمام السفارات، وأضأنا الشموع في الساحات العامّة، هكذا تعاطفت مثل كثير من اللبنانيين، مع إنتفاضة الشعب السوري السّلميّة، حزنت على الضحايا الذين كنت أشاهد صورهم عبر وسائل الإعلام ووسائل التواصل الإجتماعي، تحمّست لما يجري في أرض الشام، إنطلاقاً من موقفي المؤيد للربيع العربي (المأسوف عليه)، وإيماني بحق الشعوب بالتحرر من أنظمة الطغيان والقمع.
