Book Description
العثمانيون من القبائل التركمانية الرحل، وهم من المسلمين السنة، ويمتّون إلى السلاجقة بصلة قربى عن طريق قبائل الغز. موطنهم الأصلي هو أواسط آسيا الصغرى بالقرب من بحر قزوين، إلا أنهم تركوا تلك الجهات وأتوا إلى الأناضول فجبال طوروس. كان ذلك سنة 639هـ/1231م، أما قبل ذلك فلم نعرف عن تاريخهم شيئا. أكرم السلطان علاء الدين مثواهم، وأقطع أميرهم سليمان شاه عدة أعمال ومدن لقاء خدماته له، ومساعدته إياه في حروبه.
"ولما توفي سليمان شاه خلفه ابنه أرطغرل وبعده ابنه عثمان مؤسس الدولة، الذي اغتنم فرصة وفاة السلطان علاء الدين، ليستقل بما كان في يده أولا ثم شرع بعد ذلك في توطيد وتوسيع نطاق مملكته، حتى استولى على جزء كبير من مملكة بورصة، وجعل عاصمة ملكه مدينة "إيكي شهر". وفي سنة 1362 م مات عثمان هذا ليخلفه في السلطنة ابنه أورخان الذي استولى على مدينة بورصة في هذه السنة وقبل وفاة أبيه وجعلها عاصمة ملكه.
