وتظهر فتاة شابة تدعى هيستر شاو تسعى للإنتقام من قاتل والديها الذي ينتمي للندن ، المدينة المتحركة الكبرى ، فتلقي الأقدار في طريقها بشاب يدعى توم ناتسورثي ، ويسقطان معا من المدينة إلى حيث الأرض الخربة وتسير بهما الأحداث المشوقة بين المدن المتحركة والثابتة ويخوضان معا عديد من المغامرات خلال طريقهما .
