يدرس الاقتصاد اللغوى فى العربية بوصفه مقصدا لأصحاب اللغة المحتج بكلامهم تعكسه نصوص العربية من القرآن الكريم وحديث شريف وشعر بليغ ونثر فصيح وقد رصد قديما بعض جوانبه اللغويون من نحويين وبلاغيين وارتبط فى الدرس اللغوى الحديث بنظرية السهولة والاقتصاد فى المجهود الكتاب يضبط مفهوم الاقتصاد ويبين علاقته بالمفاهيم المتصلة به كالاختصار والتخفيف والاستغناء وغيرها كما يعرض جوانب الاقتصاد المتمثلة فى تقليل المبانى ودفع الثقل اللفظى واختصار الكلام فيقل بذا الزمن والجهد النطقى المبذول فى عملية الاتصال اللغوى والمعنى محفوظ واللبس مأمون يفسر الكتاب ما قد يبدو بادى الزاى مناقضا لمقصد الاقتصاد فى العربية فقد يعدل عن اللفظ الخفيف الى الثقيل او يؤثر المبنى الطويل على القصير ومرد ذلك الى سياقات الاستعمال واغراض المتكلمين واحوال المتلقين هذا الكتاب فى علم النحو يسبر غوره ويكشف دوره ويفصح عن مقاصده ينطلق من نصوص العربية ويسترشد بمقولات نحاتها دون لى عنق نص او تحميله من الدلالة ما لا يحتمل.
