""إنه زنديقٌ مارقٌ؛ يسبُّ أولياء الله الصالحين، ويستحقُّ الحرقَ"".. قالها عطوة، أحدُ شيوخ الطرق الصوفية، ب""الفُم المليان"".. حين نصَبُوا لي المحاكمة، أمام الضريح، الكائن على طرف قريتنا، المنزوية في أقصى الصعيد.. والتف الجمعُ من حولي.. كلٌّ يحمل في عينيه مَقتا.. وفي قلبه سوادًا.. وفي يديه بطشًا
حتى عائلتي الكبيرة، التي تتزعمُ قريتنا منذ عُقود، لم تدافع عني؛ خشية أن تُصيبها لعنةُ الشيخ جواب.. وقف سليمُ المحامي مُشرئبَ العُنق.. ثم شمَّر عن ساعديه الطويلين النحيلين.. وكأنه في محكمة الجنايات.. وبدأ خُطبته العصماء قائلًا: أيها السادة المستشارون.. فضحكت!!.. فتدارك الموقف، وقال: ""أيها السادة الحضور.. إن الطبيبَ الماثلَ أمامكم مُدَّعٍ وكاذبٌ.. وأنا على يقين، أنه يُقلد الطبيب إسماعيل، ابن الشيخ رجب، في رواية قنديل أم هاشم..الذي قاده شيطانُه ليُحطم قِنديل السيدة زينب، رضي الله عنها.. ولكن يبدو أن طبيبنا لم يقرأ رواية يحيى حقي، حتى آخرها.. فلقد تاب إسماعيلُ وأناب.. إلا أنني لا أرى لصاحبكم توبةً.. فوالله، إن هناك أشخاصًا تُجبرنا حماقتُهم على ألا نرجو لهم توبةً"".
فصاح الجمعُ مُهللين ومُكبرين.. وقال العمدة، الذي خشي أن ينسحب البساطُ من تحت قدميه.. بعد أن ضبط عَمامته، وهَندم جِلبابه: "" نعيش في كنف أولياء الله الصالحين، ودعواتُهم في قبورهم تحفظ قريتنا من كل شر، ولقد فاضت البركاتُ علينا، بقدوم مولانا الشيخ جواب، منذ شهرين، ولن أقبل أن يمسه أحدٌ بسوء، فمن آذى سيدَنا، فقد آذاني.. لذا أقترحُ عليكم جلدَ الطبيبِ المارقِ"".
