ورحتُ في سكون حجرتي المغلقة، أتخيل النهر، وبذور عباد الشمس، وماكينة الدراس، ونهرنا، وبيتنا الذي في البلد، وشجر الصفصاف والكافور والأعين الريفية العميقة المبتسمة، والقلق الذي في المدينة، والزجاج، والوجوه الشاحبة، وشارب جريجور، وتذكرت الكاتب نفسه، وأنا أتعجل تقليب الصفحات باحثًا في فضول عن المشاهد التي تدور أحداثها في القرية، لأتوقف عندها، وتهزني صفحاته دائمًا عندما تعود بالقوزاق من الحرب في كل مرة.. فأعود معهم إلى القرية.. إلى قريتنا، إلى بيتنا، ومكنة الطحين، وأعمدة التليفون، وشواشي الأشجار، ومياه الفيضان الحمراء، وقرص الشمس البرتقالي، والسواقي. وفروع أشجار شعر البنات المتشابكة المتدلية تكنس ماء النهر، والتيار يلعب بها، ويجرفها، وتطيعه..لكن في حدود، وتبقى دائمًا في مكانها.. كل فرع مشدود إلى أصله، مرتبط بشجرته الواقفة في الطين.. يمتصها، ويعاكس الماء، ويحجز خلفه فوق ماء النهر أكوامًا من القش، والعصافير، وبقايا الدريس، ويهمس للجذور في دفقات الموج، ويوشوشها في تلاعب الدوامات.
