كان الأطفال يلعبون عند أطراف الغابة أمام ( جونهاملتون )، حينما كانت سيَّارةٌ تنحدر وهي تعبر الطريق الموحل.
سمع (هاملتون ) صوتَ محرّكها، ولابدَّ أن (إيمليجونز) سمعتهُ أيضًا، حيث صاحت فجأةً:
- العدو!
وارتمى الأطفال الخمسة على الأرض، واختبأوا وسط الشُّجيرات، وألقى ( جونهاملتون ) بنفسه على الأرض أيضًا، فقد عرف اللعبة التي يلعبون بها الآن، والتي علمهم إيَّاها.
ذات يوم قال لـ(ليوريفيلبس):
- ضعْ نفسك في مكان الحيوان؛ إذا ما شعر بإنسانٍ قادمٍ إلى ناحيته، ارتجف، وقال: العدو!
وقالت ( إيمليجونز):
- سنكون نحن الحيوانات... وسيكون كل الناس أعداء.. وهم الآن يمارسون تلك اللعبة.. اعتبروا أنفسكم حيواناتٍ والنَّاس أعداء.
