"عبيد شاب يتيم من العين، ولد في بداية القرن العشرين ، نشأ في الصحراء وتعلم صناعة السيوف لكنه يعشق البحر، قرر السفر الى دبي ليصبح بحارا، ورغم معارضة أمه وأخته إلا أنه غادر إلى دبي حيث ركب إحدى السفن المغادرة في رحلة بعيدة.
تحطمت السفينة على شاطيء إحدى الجزر وكان عبيد هو الناجي الوحيد، واكتشف أن قبيلة بدائية تسكن على هذه الجزيرة، حاول الهرب من الجزيرة لكن القراصنة وتجار العبيد هاجموا الجزيرة وخطفوا الأميرة، ثارت نخوته وقام بتحرير الأميرة - وبمساعدة أهل الجزيرة - هزم القراصنة وتجار العبيد. تزوج عبيد من الأميرة وأنجب منها، وكان يحن للعودة إلى وطنه، لكن القراصنة وتجار العبيد هاجموا الجزيرة مرة ثانية وقتلوه وزوجته وعدد كبير من أفراد القبيلة. كان عبيد يكتب كل مذكراته في مخطوطات عثر عليها : سيف -الشاب الاماراتي الذي يعشق السفر وجمع التحف - فقرر سيف السفر الى الجزيرة حيث اكتشف ان حفيدة لعبيد ما زالت تحكم الجزيرة ، ومن ثم عاد الى العين ليزور ابن اخت عبيد ويحكي له قصة عمه "" النوخذة من الصحراء".
