«موت في عيد الحب» رواية شبابية للروائية الأميركية لورين أوليفر عن فتاة عليها إعادة إحياء يوم موتها في كل يوم من أيام الأسبوع. وفي محاولة لمعرفة أسباب حصول هذه الظاهرة معها، ومحاولة تغيير مصيرها، تقوم بأعمال مختلفة كل يوم، يكون بعضها غريباً عن شخصيتها ويفاجئ عائلتها وأصدقائها.
تنطلق الرواية عندما تقع "سامانثا" ضحية حادث سير. وتصف موتها المخيف والمؤلم بوضوح، وما يمرُّ في ذهنها في ثوانيها الأخيرة. ولكنها، تستنتج أن عليها، ولسبب ما، أن تُعيد إحياء يومها الأخير في الحياة، يوم الجمعة، في 12 فبراير، المعروف بـ "عيد الحب" يومياً، ويوم بعد آخر، إلى أن تتوضّح لها الأمور.
من أجواء الرواية نقرأ:
"يقولون إنك قبل أن تموت، ترى حياتك بأكملها وهي تومض أمام عينيك، ولكن هذا لم يحصل معي.
رأيت فقط أفضل لحظات حياتي. الأشياء التي رغبت بتذكرها، والأشياء التي أردت أن يتذكرها الناس عني. (...) لأنني حينها أدركت أن الوقت غير مهم. حينها أدركت أن بعض اللحظات تستمر إلى الأبد. تستمر هذه اللحظات حتى بعدما أن تنتهي، حتى بعدما أن تموت وأن يتم دفنك، تستمر هذه اللحظات، حتى الأزل. إنها كل شيء وفي كل مكان في الوقت ذاته. إنها المعنى كله.
أنا لست خائفة، إن كان هذا ما تتساءلون عنه. لحظة الموت مليئة بالصوت وبالدفء وبالنور، الكثير من النور يملؤني، يمتصني: نفق من النور يمر أمامي، التقوس للأعلى فأعلى فأعلى، وإن كان الغناء شعوراً فسيكون هو، هذا النور، هذا الارتقاء، سيكون شيئاً مثل الضحك...
