«فرسان السلالم الحلزونية» رواية للكاتب "إينار مارغودموندسن" وهي تتوجه إلى الناشئة بطلها "غدي" ولد مشاكس. ويسبب الكثير من المشاكل في الحيّ الذي يقيم فيه، كما أنّه متهوّر، ولا يفكّر في عواقب تصرفاته إطلاقاً، لذا غالباً ما يندم حين لا ينفع الندم.
ذات يوم، خطر لـ "غدي" أن يضرب صديقهُ "داني" بمطرقة والده. ولكنه ما إن فعل ذلك حتى أدرك فداحة الخطأ الذي ارتكبه. فلسوء الحظ، غاب عن باله حينها أن حفلة ذكرى ميلاد صديقه على الأبواب. وأنه بسبب سلوكه هذا ما عاد من الممكن أن يُدعى إلى تلك الحفلة التي كان في غاية الشوق لحضورها فخال "داني"، ذلك الشرطي المشهور ببطولاته وقوته سيحضر الحفلة، ولطالما كان "غدي" راغباً في التعرف إليه ورؤيته بعد أن رسم له في خياله صورة البطل الذي لا يُقهر، عندها بدأ القلق ينهش "غدي"، وراح يفكر في حلّ لهذه المشكلة التي أوقع نفسه فيها...
وبعد عدة محاولات، نجح "غدي" أخيراً في جعل صديقهُ "داني" يسامحهُ، ودُعي إلى الحفلة. وفي اليوم المحدد، ذهب "غدي" إلى محل للألعاب لشراء هدية لصديقه، غير أنه تراجع عن ذلك في اللحظة الأخيرة، وفضّل الاحتفاط بالمال لنفسه وعوضاً عن ذلك، سرق بعض الألعاب من المحلّ، وقصد منزل صديقه.
وأثناء الحفلة، حضر خال "داني" برفقة عدد من أصدقائه رجال الشرطة، فشعر "غدي" بالخوف ظناً منه أنهم جاءوا لإلغاء القبض عليه، وسارع فوراً إلى الاختباء في الحمام..
