يعد سانتيانا من اعظم فلاسفة الجمال والاخلاق في القرن العشرين ومع ذلك فإن فلسفته لم تنل حقها من البحث والدراسة من جانب الباحثين والاكاديمين العرب اذا قورنت بفلسفة كل من وليم جيمس وجوزايا رويس وجون ديوي . بل لم تنل نصف الاهمية التي اخذتها فلسفة برتراند رسل الذي يعد شيخ الفلاسفة المعاصرين في اوربا بل وامريكا ايضا ... ولكن يكفي سانتيانا ما قاله ول ديورانت معبرا عن اهمية فلسفة سانتيانا الجمالية والاخلاقية بقوله - لم تلبس الفلسفة ثوبا جميلا منذ افلاطون كما لبسته من جمال اللفظ وروعة الشعر في اسلوب سانتيانا كلمات مطعمة بالحكمة وعبارات ناعمة النسيج يعطرها الذكاء ويحصنها النقد والعقل .. فمن الخير ان نجد انسانا يشعر بأغراء الجمال ودعوة الحقيقة معا .. او كما عبر عنه لودفيج ليفيسون في قوله .. لم يظهر قط على المسرح الامريكي شخص اكثر منه موهبة للأدب ولم يكتب احد قط خيرا منه عن التراب الامريكي ولا يضاهي اي كاتب سانتيانا لا في جيله ولا في الجيل الذي يليه ...
