كنت أتمنى، في كل مرة يصل فيها لاجئ جديد للمركز، أن تكون معه آلة موسيقية من أي نوع؛ هارمونيكا ربما، أو حتى صفَّارة معدنية! بل إن أمنياتي تتضاءل أحيانًا لدرجة أن أحلم بالعثور على وتر مقطوع من جيتار لا أكثر. كنت في حاجة ماسّة إلى الموسيقى. أنغام حقيقية.. حية.. وليست تلك المنبعثة من أشرطة أجهزة التسجيل، بصوتها القديم.. المتعَب.. المشوّه. لكن الشخص المضطر إلى تسلق قمة جبل، والعبور منها إلى القمة التي تليها، متخطيـًا شتى أنواع المتاعب والمخاطر، ليتمكن في النهاية من حشر جسمه بين صناديق الطماطم، أو الاستلقاء بين أجساد خنازير، في سيارة نقل تعبر بها إلى مسلخ دولة أخرى.. ويغطي نفسه بروث تلك الحيوانات وفضلاتها، حتى لا يفطن حرس الحدود إلى وجوده.. لن يفكر أبدًا في أخذ آلته الموسيقية معه، سيتركها في وطنه، ويكتفي بحمل نسخة من الإنجيل أو القرآن.. علها تمدّ قلبه وروحه بشيء من السكينة؛ وقد يصطحب معه صورة للأشخاص الذين فارقهم.. مع أن الذكريات التي تجلبها معك إلى هنا، تعدّ نوعـًا من الرفاهية.
