"أحداث هذه الرواية تدور في جميع أنحاء العالم، مقدونيا هي نقطة البدء، ثم تنتقل إلى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، ثم إلى البوسنة، ثم إلى حقول باكستان. تدور بعض الأحداث في كنائس قديمة بمدينة مقدونية صغيرة تدعى ""أوخريد""، وفي بعض المناطق التي تتميز بها مدينة نيويورك، وتكية الدراويش القديمة في مسقط رأسي، وفي بيت قديم للدعارة بالعاصمة ""سكوبيه""، ثم إلى الأنفاق القديمة الغامضة التي تمتد تحت قلعة ""أوخريد""، وتحت باريس كذلك، وتحت عواصم عالمية أخرى. باختصار، تدور أحداث هذه الرواية هنا وهناك، بعضها خيال، وبعضها واقع، الأكيد هو أن العنف الذي نعيشه الآن واقعي جدًا.
ما تحتاج معرفته عزيزي القارئ هو أن الرواية علقت في اللحظة التي بدأ فيها العالم الانتقال من القرن الماضي لبداية القرن الواحد والعشرون، فأحيانًا تجد أحداثًا تسير بسرعة غريبة، وفجأة تجدها توقفت أو أصبحت تتطور ببطءٍ شديدٍ وغريب، او حتى يحدث عكس ما كان متوقعًا تمامًا، كأن يصبح الماضي هو مستقبلك على سبيل المثال.
حتى الشخصيات الخيالية في هذه الرواية لا تمثل فقط الذين يعيشون الآن في عالمنا هذا ويعانون، بل هنك أيضًا شخصيات من الماضي، لسببٍ أو لآخر حدث ما أزعج أرواحهم وورطهم في عالمنا الحاضر. طريقة الحوار ستكون أحيانًا جادة، وأحيانًا أخرى ضاحكة، أو ساخرة، وأحيانًا ستجدها غريبة وتراجيدية كوميدية.
