كانت تمشي متكئة على كرسيها الجوال بهدوء شديد كعادة العجائز وما لبثت ان انعطفت نحو طريق فرعية حيث تتراكم الثلوج المتساقطة منذ امس ضحكنا عندما سقطت على الارض ولم نتوقف عن الضحك الا حين شاهدناها وهي لا تقوى على النهوض... اذ لم يعد المشهد مسليا بعد ذلك ... فأخذنا حقيبتها اليدوية تلطخت يداي بدمها فمسحته بالحقيبة مما ترك بقعا من دم العجوز عليها في البداية مشينا مسرعين ... ثم اخذنا نعدو بينما كان علينا ان نفعل العكس ... لم نقم بسرقة العجوز بشكل مباشر وقد قلت هذا لأمي . غالبا ما يرتكب يوحنا اخطاء . فيسيء فهم الامور على الدوام ... ويحاول تنفيذ طلبات الاشخاص حوله لينال رضاهم . يقع يوحنا في شرك انداده ليرتكب اعمالا عدوانية تؤدي الى الانحدار لكن من يتحمل مصير يوحنا .. اصدقاء الحيوان رواية مؤثرة وشفافة عن العزلة والضعف تصور الحنين والصلات التي يمكن ان تربط الناس المستضعفين ببعضهم البعض ... تتكامل افاق القص مثل دوائر صغيرة متداخلة لتشكل عالما روائيا محكما ...
