ما يريده كل إنسان من الليل هو النوم، أن ينام بسرعة، دون إحساس بضياع الساعات أرقًا، أي إنسان إنما يتوجه للوسادة كي يستسلم للموت، كي يرسو على شطآن الراحة الجسدية، دون ضجيج، دون تقلبات ودون مواجع، لا يحدث هذا دائمًا، فبعض المواجع والأحاسيس تنتظر أن يحط الرأس على الوسادة كي تستيقظ وتنشط فوق سقف الغرفة، وترقص رقصًا، تنتظر أن يكون هناك وقت يضعف فيه الجسد كي تستشري بين الرؤى والأحلام والتعب. في الليل تنمو الفواجع كأنها تتغذى بالظلام والصمت. وأصحاب القلوب المملوءة بؤسًا فقط يشعرون بما يشبه الانكسار قبل النوم، كأنهم أمام معركة جديدة ضد الصور والمرايا والانعكاسات والمراثي النهارية.
أحيانًا نستيقظ وتستيقظ معنا جيوش الأحلام والكوابيس والهموم، تفطر معنا وتسير جنبنا لترافقنا لمقاعد الدراسة، تظل تلك الأشياء ملتصقة بنا طوال اليوم كظلنا تتشكل بتشكلنا، وغالبًا ما تنبعج لتعبر عن دواخلنا لا عن مظهرنا.
