العصفوران في القفص يطارد أحدهما الأخر.. صوت أم كلثوم "عايزنا نرجع زي زمان.. قول للزمان ارجع يا زمان".. يلقي على مسامعي إحدى قصائده الشعرية فيخفي صوته تارة على صوتها، ويهدأ تارة أخرى عندما تتحداه بقوة صوتها.. لم أسمع كل ما ألقى من قصيدته، ولم أسمع كامل ما غنت أم كلثوم.. اختلطت كلماتها بكلماته.. كبريائها بمناجاته.. تزاحم كل ما سبق منحدراً في أذني متسللاً إلى صدري.. ضاغطاً على ما به.. وصل إلى قمة انفعالاته.. فوصلت إلى قمة اختناقي "كفاية".أسرعت ففتحت الباب لأحد العصفورين وأغلقته على الآخر، فذهب إلى حيث يدريان، ثم أغلقت الشرفة بقوة كي لا أرى الآخر "كي أخفض من صوت أم كلثوم الآتي من عند الجيران".
