هو العمل الأول لكاتبه، وتدور فكرته حول القط وعالمه الأسطوري، وتختلف قصص الكتاب عن تلك التي تناولت الحيوانات كمجرد وعاء لتمرير أفكارهم السياسية والاجتماعية، حيث يعتمد الكتاب على القط وحياته كتيمة أساسية في السرد الدرامي للأحداث ,يقول مؤلفه أحمد شوقي " أردت إضفاء بعض من الخصوصية علي كتابي تميزه عن سائر الكتب التي استخدمت الحيوانات أبطالا لها، والتي كانت تروي أحداثا لا تتغير بتغير أبطالها، وتستخدمهم كحيلة لتمرير أفكارهم –السياسية في الغالب، بينما يتناول القطط أيضا ترسم الصور حياة القط من منطلق وجودي، لما للقط في المخيلة الشعبية من قدرات فوقية للتحاور مع غيبيات عدة أبرزها الموت والعفاريت، وعلى هذا الأساس لا يمكن استبدال أي حيوان آخر بالقط، فمثلا قصة مثل الموت لا ينتسب إلي قبيلة الضباع، يقيم القط علاقات مع العفاريت وملك الموت والأرواح، وهي خصوصية أصبغتها عليه المخيلة الشعبية الثرية.
