وجودها أصبح خطراً على بيت الشيخ حامد.. فقد ضبطوا كثيراً من "الضبع" يحاولون التسلل والفرجة على الجثة.. بل إنهم ضبطوا ابن العمدة شخصياً (الذي لا ينجب رغم زواجه منذ سنين) وهو يحاول دخول الغرفة من الشباك.
بل كانت نساء القرية تذهب أيضاً لتتفرج.. كن يتعجبن من رائحة نوع البخور المنبعثة من ملابس "المرحومة".. كانت الملابس معلقة في ركن من أركان الغرفة، وكانت كل يوم تقلب مئات المرات.. وتشمها أنف كل "ست" من ستات القرية.
خطرت ببال واحدة منهن فكرة لاقت استحسان سيدات القرية.. فقد غسلن ملابس "المرحومة".. ووضعت كل سيدة من سيدات القرية ملابسها في الوعاء نفسه.. ربما يعلق بها شئ من رائحة بخورها.
