كان علي مايزال جامداً في مكانه.. ارتدى بنطاله وخرج راكضاً خلف صفاء.. هدأ من روعها.. أخرج مالاً من جيبه ووضعه في يدها ثم عاد.
ريتاج واقفة كتمثال في نفس الموضع عيناها جامدتان على منظر الغرفة.. أحمر شفاه ملقى على السرير مع قميص علي وهاتفه.. قارورة بنية شفافة لمشروب لاتعرفه تنظر على الطاولة التي يضع عليها فاروق كتبه.. خاتم نسائي فضي بجانب الملاءة الجديدة التي استرتها ريتاج له مرمية على الأرض.. رائحة السجائر والرذيلة شلت تفكيرها.
دخل علي ببطء ماراً بحذر بجانبها.. جلس على الأرض منكس الرأس.. انتظر، فكر فيما سيقوله لها وكيف يبرر لها.. انتظر وانتظر حتى سمع صوت الباب الخارجي يعلن خروجها.
