قاصة وروائية سورية مقيمة في باريس/فرنسا ولدت في حلب عام 1966 وحصلت على ليسانس في الحقوق من جامعة حلب.
واعمالها الروائية، هي "اللامتناهي-سيرة الآخر" (عام 1995) و"جدران الخيبة أعلى" (2002) و"تراتيل العدم" (2009) و"حبل سري" (2010) و"بنات البراري" (2011) و"طبول الحب" (2012) و"الراويات" و"نفق الوجود" (2014) و" مترو حلب" (2016).
فازت مها حسن بجائزة هيلمان/هامت الأميركية عام 2005، كما أنها وصلت إلى القائمة الطويلة لجائزة بوكر العربية مرتين (2011) و(2015) من خلال روايتيها "حبل سري" و"الراويات".

"لا شيء يمكنه أن يعوض عن خسارات الحروب، ولا منديلَ، مهما كان أبيض ونظيفاً ومقدساً، يمكنه أن يكفكف دمعنا على الذين قتلتهم الحرب. وأكثر ما سيؤلم في المستقبل حين نجلس ونستذكر سنوات الحرب، سيبدو أن كل شيء حدث بساعة واحدة من الزمن، على الأكثر، وانتهى. الرواية فقط ستنجو من هذه الممارسة اللا أخلاقية التي قد ترتكبها جميع الفنون الأخرى. لأنها الوحيدة القادرة على انتاج الشعور بزمن الحرب الطويل، الحرب بكل لحظاتها المظلمة، ورائحة جلدها الذي يتصبب رصاصاً وخوف. نعم الرواية فقط ستنجو وخاصة حين تأتينا من روائية متمرسة وصاحبة دربة طويلة.
في هذه الرواية تفعل مها حسن بالزمن الثابت والمتعارف عليه للحرب، ما فعله مودلياني بوجوه ورقاب شخصيات لوحاته. حين جعلها تستطيل فأصبحت أكثر تحريضاً لنا على التأمل واستيلاد الأفكار. هذه الحرب التي بدأها قاتل واحد أصبحت حرب الجميع الآن، حرب من لا حرب له. الكلُّ ضد الكلِّ.
هنا ترجع مها من بيتها الفرنسي إلى بيتها الحلبي الذي دمرته الحرب. تدعو الحرب إليه وتُقعدها في حضنها، وتبدأ تروي لها حكايات، مثلما فعلت شهرزاد مع شهريار. تحدثها عن أمها وخالاتها وأخيها، عن حارتها وبيتها، عما حدث مع شعبها، كيف أصبح فتى الحي الوسيم الخلوق أمير حرب، وكيف أصبح الدم ماء.
