كان "والت ديزني" يحب أن يقوم بدور المهرج في الفصل. وذات مرة ذكر أنه كان يفعل أي شيء لجذب اهتمام الآخرين. وكان زملاؤه في الفصل في بلدة مارسلين بولاية ميسوري يحبون عروضه جدًّا.
وذات مرة أمسك بفأر حقل وصنع له لجامًا من الخيط، ودخل الفصل مختالًا بنفسه وساحبًا فأره الجديد وتجول به في أنحاء الفصل.
وعندما رأى أحد زملائه هذا الحيوان الصغير صرخ خائفًا. في هذه اللحظة جاء المعلم ووضع حدًّا لتصرف "والت" السيئ وعاقبه، لكنه لم يُبال بذلك، وأصبح والت وفأره مشهورين في هذا اليوم.
لم يكن والت يعرف ما يخبئه له القدر حينئذ، لكن يومًا ما، فإن فأرًا آخر – يدعى ميكي – سيجعله مشهورًا في جميع أنحاء العالم.
