إذًا فهذا الكتاب يستعرض ماهية صحافة البيانات، ومتى بدأت، ومن روادها، وكيف نستفيد من تجاربهم، كما سيضع الكتاب بين يدي القارئ جميع المهارات والخطوات التي ستجعل منه صحفيًا محترفًا في التعامل مع البيانات، كما سيوضح الكتاب الأخطاء التي يقع فيها المبتدئون وكيفية تجنبها، وطرق الحصول على البيانات، وجمعها، وتنقيحها وتحليلها، وصولًا إلى تحويلها إلى قصة صحفية. وفي الفصل الأخير سيتناول الكتاب تصميم البيانات وعناصر التصميم الجيد كالألوان والسياق والرموز والخطوط والأحجام، والرسم البياني.
""صحافة البيانات"" من تأليف عمرو العراقي، الذي عمل صحفيًا لأكثر من عشر سنوات في عدد من غرف الأخبار الكبرى مناها MBC، وموقع YAHOO مكتوب، وفي نهاية عام 2012، انطلق للعمل الحر وأسس أول موقع متخصص في صحافة البيانات في العالم العربي InfoTimes، وعمل على نشر أكثر من 300 قصة صحافية مدفوعة بالبيانات بجانب وصوله إلى التصفيات النهائية لعامين على التوالي في مسابقة شبكة المحررين الدولية لصحافة البيانات، وساهم العراقي في تدريب عدد من الصحافيين على تصميم البيانات بالتعاون مع BBC Media Action، وشبكة Internews Europe.
