لا شك أن الكتابة في هذا الموضوع أمر شائك معقَّد؛ فثمَّة أشياء عديدة تطل برأسها في طريق الادعاءات والاحتجاجات وشواهد الحكايات والفرضيات والمؤامرات والنظريات، ونحن -بالطبع- لسنا معنيين بالإشارة إلى الوقائع والحقائق والإحصاءات؛ إذ ليس عدلًا تناوُل أيٍّ من هذه الضوابط الأساسية دونما نظرة شاملة لموضوع السيطرة على العقل ومراقبته وتوجيهه. من جهة أُخرى، يفرض علينا الناشرون -نحن معشر الكتاب- تلك النتف الصغيرة التي تعرف بـحساب الكلمات، فنُجبَر على تجاهُل موضوعات قد تهم القُرَّاء كثيرًا، وعدم الاقتراب منها أو تناولها بأي شكل كان، ويضطرنا هذا أيضًا إلى اختصار موضوعات أُخرى كثيرة؛ التزامًا بتلك السياسة الصارمة. هذا هو -تحديدًا- النهج المتبع في عالم طباعة الكتاب ونشره وتوزيعه، وبالرغم من ذلك فإننا نحاول جاهدين الاقتراب من تلك الموضوعات وتناولها بعمق كلما كان ذلك ممكنًا، ونقدِّر عاليًا ما يبذله القُرَّاء من جهد للغوص في التفاصيل والتوسع في المعارف، مؤكدين أنه ليس ضروريًّا أن نكون - نحن أو الناشر- متَّفقين مع كل ما تضمنه هذا الكتاب من أفكار ونظريات. ولا ننسى أن الكتَّاب والمؤلفين يحرصون على الكتابة عمَّا يؤمنون به، وإلَّا لانقرضت صناعة الكتب، أو أصبحت - على الأقل- مملَّة جدًّا؛ ما يجعل الجميع يزهد في اقتنائها، أو حتى مطالعتها. وعلى أيٍّ حال، فإننا نأمل من قُرَّائنا الأعزاء أن يجدوا ضالتهم في مادة هذا الكتاب، وأن تشبع فضولهم، وأن تزيد من معارفهم؛ فالمعرفة قوة وسلطة، ومن العبث أن يبدِّد الإنسان وقته وجهده فيما لا ينفع... فأحسن استخدام عقلك.
