وتعتمد لاريسافا سيليفا مؤلفة الكتاب الممتع على مواد من الأرشيف ووثائق وأحاديث خاصة مع "زوجات الكرملين" أنفسهن، وأقربائهن، ومذكرات من عاصروا أولئك النساء.
وقد ساعد المؤلفة كثيراً فى عملها أنها نفسها تنتمي للأوساط القريبة من الكرملين، كما تكتب هى، وذلك نظراً لأن والدها كان يعمل مصمماً للدبابات، مما سمح للأسرة بمخالطة القمم الحاكمة، وسمح للمؤلفة بتفهم الطبيعة النفسية لمن عاشوا فى الكرملين. وسيكتشف القارىء كل ذلك بنفسه، من التفاصيل التى تعكس صورة "الكرملين"، وأشياء أخرى كثير.
