انطفأت الشمعة في وسط التورتة العملاقة بنظرة من عينيّ هالة قبل أن ينتهي الجمع من (يا جميل) الأخيرة وهو ما لحظته ميادة الصغيرة التي كانت عيناها منهمكتين في حرق هالة طيلة الحفل حسدًا على فستانها الورديّ المبهر ومنزل أسرتها الأنيق وملذّات الحياة المجتمعة على السماط الممدود خصيصًا من أجلها!
فقط هذا هو ما أتاح لها رؤية عيني هالة الناقمتين على الاحتفال بذكرى ميلادها تبرقان بريقًا لا يكاد يُلحظ انطفأت على إثره الشمعة دون أن تهتزّ ذبالتها.. لم يهتم أحد وصفّق الجميع ثم أعاد أحدهم إضاءة غرفة الاستقبال لتُفزِع شهقة ميادة الآذان وعندما أشارت الطفلة لهالة في رعبٍ لم يفهم أحد لِمَ يثير مرأى فتاة جميلة رقيقة مقطّبة الجبين قليلًا فزع أحدهم خاصةً أنّه لا يوجد من يعاني من (فوبيا التكشيرة) في حدود ما كانوا يعلمون.
