عمار علي حسن هو كاتب وباحث في العلوم السياسية بمصر.
تخرج في كلية الاقتصاد والعلوم السياسية، جامعة القاهرة، عام 1989، وحصل على الدكتوراه في العلوم السياسية عام 2001.
لديه عدة مؤلفات سياسية مهتمة بالجماعات الإسلامية في مصر والوطن العربي، كما لديه عدة مؤلفات قصصية وروائية.
هو عضو نقابة الصحفيين واتحاد الكتاب في مصر، وعمل صحفيا بوكالة أنباء الشرق الأوسط، ومديرا لمكتب صحيفة "البلد" اللبنانية بالقاهرة.
عمل أيضاً كباحث بمركز الإمارات للدراسات والبحوث الاستراتيجية بأبوظبي، ويتعاون مع عدة مراكز بحثية عربية في مشروعات بحثية، منها "مركز البحوث والدراسات السياسية" بجامعة القاهرة، و "مركز الدراسات السياسية والإستراتيجية بالأهرام"، وأكاديمية ناصر للعلوم العسكرية في مصر، "مركز الدراسات والوثائق القانونية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية" التابع للسفارة الفرنسية بالقاهرة، مركز دراسات التنمية السياسية والدولية، في إطار مؤسسة "الصحفيون المتحدون".
أما في مجال الأدب، فقد حصل على جوائز عربية ومصرية في القصة القصيرة.
كما حصل على نوط الواجب العسكري من الطبقة الثانية، أثناء تأديته الخدمة العسكرية كضابطا احتياطيا بالجيش المصري

انا عبد جلبنى تجار الرقيق عنوة وباعونى فى سوق الجلابة بثمن بخس لأنى كنت نحيلاً وصفرتي تغلب سمرتي لدرجة أن من اشترانى ظن انى مريض بالطاعون فأعادنى الى التاجر واسترد مادفعه فأبقانى الأخير ثلاثة اشهر اتجبرنى فيها على أن اكل فوق طاقتى كان يحشر الطعام فى فمى بأصابع يدية العشرة فإن تأففت يقرصنى بقراض من حديد فى فخذى فألتهم ما يقدمه لى لأقتل ألمى بألم اخر ولما سمنت باعنى بضعف ثمنى الأول لكن سيدى رأى منى أشياء عجيبة فأطلق سراحى **
تلتقط هذه الرواية حكاية غريبة منسية من تاريخ مصر لم تأت الكتب والحوليات على ذكرها الا عبر سطور قليلة فنفخ فيها الكاتب من خياله وحصيلة اطلاعه وفهمه لتأثير الماضى فى الحاضر ليبدع من كل هذا سردا يعانق التاريخ فيه الفن ويتضافر الجمال مع المعرفة.
