يتأمل الهادي المكان من حوله قبل أن ينزل درجات السلم الكبير الأبيض ذي الدرجات الثلاثين، والتي يفصل بين كل عشر درجات منها مساحة مسطحة مزينة بالورود والرياحين، وزينات أخرى عجيبة لم يرَ مثلها بحياته.
فإذا بالمكان كرقعة بيضاء كبيرة ومسطحة ومكشوفة للسماء، وتبدو النجوم لامعة والقمر بدرًا، وأرجاء المكان باهية، وكأنها وسط قصر مَشيد.
عمدان بزخارف ذهبية وتماثيل بديعة وقطع نادرة بكل مكان، والأرض قد جملت بقطع كرستالية ملساء، وفي نهاية درجات السلم الثلاثين توجد سجادة سميكة حمراء توصل الماشي عليها إلى بهو كبير.
تبدو به الشخوص للناظر من أعلى السلم غير واضحي الملامح والمعالم، ولكن جمال المكان ورائحته الخلابة وموسيقاه الكلاسيكية الناعمة الهادئة لا تعطي مجالًا للاختيار سوى النزول لأسفل، واكتشاف المكان وساكنيه.
وبمجرد أن يبدأ الهادي بالنزول يعلو قليلًا إيقاع الموسيقى، وما إن انتهى من العشر درجات الأولى وشرع في العشر التالية إلّا وتغيرت الموسيقى بأخرى غريبة وغير مفهومة الإيقاع تقترب من موسيقى الرعب غير المنتظمة! ولكنها مازالت هادئة، حتى بدأ في العشر درجات الأخيرة.
