أنتحر...
يعودُني أبنائي فيحدِّقون في جثَّتي المدلاة من عنقها بحبلٍ غليظٍ مربوطٍ في ذراع حديديٍّةٍ تبرز كعيبٍ خِلْقِيٍّ من جدار حجرتي، لم أستفد منها قط، قبل الآن. يجدون جثتي مطعونةً بسكينٍ في قلبِها، تمسك يدي بالسكين باستماتةٍ لا تفلته يجدون أجزاءً صغيرةً من مخِّي متناثرةً فوق السرير الذي تتمدد جثتي عليه، بينما المسدس على الأرض أمامي، ويلحظ أطباءُ شرعيونَ علاماتِ حروقٍ على صدغي تثبت أن السلاح كان قريبًا للغاية. يجدون جثتي متيبِّسةً ويدي اليمنى قابضةً على محقنٍ مغروسٍ في وريد رسغ اليسرى، ويعرفون بعد ذلك بيومين أنَّ ما كان في المحقن هو السيانيد. يجدون جثتي في بحرٍ متجلِّطٍ من الدماءِ القانية، وخيطٌ من اللون ذاته يمتد من البحر إلى شرياني المقطوع بموس. يجدون جثتي يشوب لونَها اسودادٌ في بعضِ أماكنِ الجلدِ الظاهرة، ثم يفهمون بعد أن يلحظ أحدهم سلكًا عاريًا في يدي.
يبكون...
يقرر أحدهم أن يحرقوا جثتي وينثروا الرماد في البحر تكريمًا لي. يبدأون بالفعل في تنفيذ ما اقترحه. يجتمعون بأمهم في فلوكةٍ يستأجرونها من مرسى صغير. يجدِّف الابن الأصغر. يلهث. يَصِلُونَ إلى منطقةٍ بعيدةٍ عن الشاطئ. يُخرج الأكبر حقيبة بلاستيكيةً فيها رمادي. يهمُّ بإفراغ الحقيبة في البحر، لولا أني أنهض من رمادي مرةً أخرى. أنبعث، لا كعنقاء أسطورية، بل كجحيمٍ مصبوبٍ يغيِّرُ لون البحرِ إلى الأحمر.
يغرقون...
