في الوقت الذي كانت فيه الصهيونية تنفذ مخططاتها في فلسطين والأراضي العربية بحرص وإصرار شديدين، كانت الحكومات العثمانية تغضُّ الطرف، وتقلل من أهمية التحركات اليهودية التي لم تفتر منذ أواخر القرن التاسع عشر. ولمَّا كان «نجيب نصَّار» مهمومًا بالقضية، ومُجدًّا في التوعية بالخطر المُحدِق الذي تمثِّله الصهيونية؛ فقد سخَّر صحيفته «الكرمل» لنشر الملفات التحذيرية، ومتابعة الأخبار والخطط بالنقل المباشر عن المصادر العبرية، وبخاصة الإنسيكلوبيديا اليهودية — وهي الموسوعة التي عكف على كتابتها طائفة من نُخبهم، واحتوت على أدبياتهم وأيديولوجياتهم وتوجهاتهم الاستعماريَّة. هذا الكتاب هو مجموع ما وقع بين يدي صاحب الكرمل حتى عام 1905م من وثائق تتضمن نشأة الصهيونية ونموها، وغاياتها ومراميها، وطرق انتشارها وتغوُّلها. ويعقِّب المؤلِّف عليها مُستنهضًا الهمم، في محاولة لتجنُّب لعنات الأجداد والأبناء التي يستمطرها السماحُ بإضاعة البلاد.
