سعيد يقطين ناقد وباحث مغربي، ولد في مدينة الدار البيضاء في 8 مايو 1955 وقد عرف باهتماماته البحثية والاكاديمية في مجال السرديات العربية ونحت مفاهيمها وتتبع مكوناتها في النصوص العربية القديمة والحديثة.تلقى تعليمه الأولي في الكٌتاب بالدار البيضاء، ثم في المدرسة الابتدائية للتعليم، وأكمل تعليمه الإعدادي والثانوي والجامعي بمدينة فاس، وحصل على الدكتوراه من جامعة محمد الخامس في الرباط.

عندما كنت أشتغل بالرواية، من خلال تحليل الخطاب، ظهر لي، أن الرواية الجديدة، وهي تخرق قواعد بناء القصة، أو تدخل تقنيات عديدة في تشكيلها، لا يمكن أن تكون مجال الاستثمار الطبيعي للمعطيات الأساسية التي تساهم في تصور نظري عام للعمل السردي. كنت وقتها منشغلا بالخطاب والنص، وأؤجل النظر، أو البحث في القصة، أو المادة الحكائية. ولما كان تشكيل التصور المتكامل لتحليل السرد مقترنا بالبحث في مختلف ما يتكون منه، ارتأيت الانطلاق من المتن السردي العربي القديم. إنه من الغنى، والتنوع، والتعدد، بالقدر الذي يتيح لنا إمكانية معالجة الموضوع المؤجل بالصورة الملائمة.
