هذا الكتاب يعتبر إحدى المحاولات لبلورة رؤية إعلامية، وتحديد بعض الملامح والمعالم الرئيسية للمنهج الإسلامي في الإعلام، ذلك أن الجهود التي تناولت المنظور الإسلامي للإعلام بما فيها ما يطلق عليه: ((الجهود الأكاديمية))، لا تزال متواضعة لا ترقى إلى مستوى المنبر الإسلامي المطلوب، ولا تحقق الاضطلاع بمهمة البلاغ المبين، كما أنها لا ترقى إلى مستوى العصر، بكل عطائه وتقنياته الإعلامية، وكأن الإعلام في عالم المسلمين ما يزال يعاني من غربة الزمان والمكان. ولعل السبب في ذلك اتساع فجوة التخلف بين الماضي المشرق والواقع المتخلف، شأنها في ذلك شأن الفجوة القائمة بين ما يسمى الإعلام الإسلامي –تجاوزا- والإعلام العالمي، حتى انتهى عالمنا الإسلامي إلى موقع التلقي لكل ما يصب عليه، بحيث تكاد تكون معظم مشاركاته تمثل رجع الصدى للإعلام العالمي، وإعادة إنتاجه وإرساله.
