كان للتقدم السريع في الاتصالات وللانفتاح المعرفي الكبير على الشرق في العصر الحديث أثر واضح في سريان المبادئ والفلسفات الشرقية بعقائدها الوثنية عبر الطقوس والممارسات اليومية في المجتمعات الإنسانية متخطية أتباعها إلى غيرهم، وكان أول المتأثرين بالفلسفة الشرقية الغربيون الذين بهرتهم روحانيات الشرق وتطبيقاتها في الحياة اليومية لما يعيشونه من الفصام بين بقايا دينهم المحرف ومعطيات الفلسفات الوضعية، ويحملون مخلفات الصراع الكبير بين العلم والدين الذي ذاقوا ويلاته سنين. وهكذا وجدت الفلسفة الشرقية في الغرب قبولا كبيرا من المتلهفين الذين التفوا حول من سموا بـ ((المرشدين الروحانيين)) القادمين من الهند والتبت الذين يبشرون بأديانهم الشرقية في أمريكا وأوروبا عبر تطبيقاتهم الروحانية المتنوعة، وتكونت من أثر دعواتهم طوائف كثيرة في المجتمع الغربي تجتمع حول الممارسات الروحية الشرقية. وما لبثت هذه الطوائف كونت مؤسسات تعمل على إعادة تصميم تلك الممارسات والطقوس بشكل يتناسب مع طبيعة العصر العلمية ومتطلبات الحياة اليومية وقدمتها لعامة الناس على اختلاف أديانهم وانتماءاتهم على أنها مجرد دورات لتطوير الذات وتنمية القدرات أو وصفات استشفائية لاكتساب العافية والمحافظة على الصحة. في صفحات هذا الكتاب دراسة لهذه المبادئ الفلسفية الشرقية وتتبع لكيفيات تسريبها عبر برامج التدريب والاستشفاء المعاصرة.
