لقد تناول هذا البحث قضايا المرأة بشكل مباشر، وهمه الأصلي إعادة هيكلة الدراسات المتعلقة بالمرأة من وجهة نظر دينية. ولكننا نعتقد بأن طبيعة البحث يمكنها أن تتسع –إن كان موفقا- إلى سائر الأطر الاجتماعية. إن هذا الكتاب هو في الواقع مقدمة لكتب أخرى، سوف تصنف مفصلة وبالتدريج، وفق المراحل التي اقترحت في هذا المشروع. وقد تعرض هذا الكتاب في فصله الأول إلى ثلاثة تيارات أصلية بين المفكرين المسلمين، في ما يتعلق بقضايا المرأة، وبين أنه يمكن تمييز ثلاثة تيارات في هذا المجال : التيار التقليدي، والتيار التجديدي، والتيار الحضاري. وقد اتضح في هذا الفصل أنه لا يمكن الدفاع عن ضرورة تصميم نمط لشخصية المرأة المسلمة، ومتابعة ذلك، إلا على أساس التيار الثالث. وفي الفصل الثاني تعرض إلى أهم مفاهيم أنماط شخصية المرأة، وبحث المفردات ذات المعاني المتعددة كالنظام، القدوة، الشخصية، الجامعية و... وقد اتضح، في هذا القسم، أن نمط الشخصية – مقابل المقولتين الأخريين، أي نظام الشخصية والبرنامج العملي للمرأة، هي مقولة جديدة تحتاج – علاوة على الاهتمام الفقهي والخبرة العلمية – إلى التخصص والبحث المعمق. أما في الفصل الثالث فقد قمنا –قدر الإمكان – بصياغة نمط الشخصية، إضافة إلى التحقيق في مراحل الوصول إلى هذه النتيجة. ومن أكثر مباحث هذا الفصل حساسية : هو كيفية الربط بين النمط والمنظومة من جهة، وعلاقة المنظومة بالظروف الاجتماعية والتاريخية من جهة أخرى. وفي الوقت الذي تقوم فيه منظومة شخصية المرأة – طبقا للقاعدة – على المناهج العلمية للاجتهاد، فإن نمط الشخصية يتغير وفقا لتغير الظروف الاجتماعية. ولقد تم البحث في هذا الفصل عن أسباب التغير في النمط، وعن ضرورة النظرة التنموية إلى مقولة تشخيص الأنماط، وقد عدت التنمية الاجتماعية الدينية تابعة لقابلية النمط للتنمية. وقد أضفنا إلى الترجمة العربية ملحا للمقارنة بين النموذجين: الإسلامي والغربي في النظرة إلى المرأة، نأمل أن يكون إضافة مفيدة إلى الكتاب.
