فرهاد دفتري (بالفارسية: فرهاد دفتری ) (بالإنجليزية: Farhad Daftary ) (و. 1938 م) هو أكاديمي إيراني يعمل في معهد الدراسات الإسماعيلية.
درس في إيران والولايات المتحدة وأوروبا وحاز الدكتوراه من جامعة كاليفورنيا عام 1971 م. انتسب عام 1988 م إلى معهد الدراسات الإسماعيلية وهو محرّر في موسوعة إيرانيكا.

شهد الإسماعيليون تاريخا طويلا معقدا وحافلا بالأحداث نشأ في التقليد الشيعي الإمامي من الإسلام وتعود بداياته إلى القرن الثامن الميلادي. وطور الإسماعيليون من مختلف المناطق تراثهم الفكري والأدبي المتميز وتوسعوا فيه، فكانت لهم إسهامات بارزة في فكر المسلمين وثقافتهم. وفي العصور الوسطى انقسم الإسماعيليون إلى جماعتين رئيسيتين اتبعت كل منهما خطاً من الأئمة أو القادة الروحيين. وأصبح للقسم الأكبر من الإسماعيليين، وهم النزاريون، خط من الأئمة يتمثل في الأزمنة الحديثة بالآغاخانات، بينما خضع الإسماعيليون الطيبيون، المعروفين بالبهرة في جنوب آسيا، لقيادة دعاة (كانوا نوابا لأئمتهم المستترين). تمثل هذه المجموعة من الدراسات أول محاولة بحثية علمية لإجراء مسح شامل للتاريخ الحديث لكلي فرعي الإسماعيليين منذ منتصف القرن التاسع عشر. وهي تغطي، بالنسبة إلى الإسماعيليين النزاريين، قضايا موضوعية وموضوعات متنوعة، بما فيها التاريخ الحديث للجماعات في سورية وآسيا الوسطى وجنوب آسيا وشرق أفريقيا، إضافة إلى هجرتهم إلى الغرب. وجرت أيضا مناقشة سياسات الآغاخانات التحديثية في مجالي التعليم والجندر، إلى جانب شبكة الآغاخان للتنمية ومقاربتها لموضوع البيئة العمرانية. كما تم تخصيص قسم مستقل للتاريخ الحدبث للبهرة الطيبيين والتطورات التي حصلت ضمن هذه الجماعة. فرهاد دفتري هو مدير مشارك ورئيس دائرة البحث الأكاديمي والنشر في معهد الدراسات الإسماعيلية، وهو، إلى جانب ذلك، محرر استشاري للموسوعة الإيرانية (إنسايكلوبيديا إيرانيكا) ومحرر مشارك للموسوعة الإسلامية (إنسايكلوبيديا إسلاميكا)، إضافة إلى كونه محررا عاما لسلسلة التراث الإسماعيلي وسلسلة النصوص الإسماعيلية والترجمات. صدر له بالعربية عن دار الساقي '' الإسماعيليون في مجتمعات العصر الوسيط الإسلامية" و'' الإسماعيليون: تاريخهم وعقائدهم".
