تعتبر فكرة الله من الأفكار الرئيسية في حياة العربي والمسلم كيفما كان مستوى تعلمه وانتمائه الطبقي. نلتقي بها على جميع الأصعدة وعلى جميع المستويات: دين، أخلاق، مجتمع، سياسة إلخ. وقد وجد الفيلسوف العربي نفسه في مأزق قلة أدوات الإقناع والتفسير، وفي أحسن الأحوال بأدوات إقناع غير كافية وغير مجدية للكف عن استعمال فكرة الله هذا الإستعمال السيئ. من هذا المنطلق فإننا على يقين بأن لهذا الكتاب أهمية قصوى لنفهم الأسس الميتافيزيقية والفينومونولوجية لفكرة الله هذه. إن هذا الكتاب هو دعوة لإعادة بناء علاقة الإنسان المعاصر بعالمه الرمزي. يدعو سايفرت من جهة للصلح بين الإنسان وبين أعمق مكونات عالمه الرمزي: الله، ومن جهة أخرى إلى الصلح بين الإنسان مع نفسه عن طريق فينومونولوجية نفسية، تحاول أن تفهم عمق إحساساتنا ومعتقداتنا. وعندما يفهم المرء نفسه، فإنه سيكون من السهل عليه أن يتصالح مع الإنسان، لأن كل ما هو إنساني يحمل في ذاته علامات المقدس.
