هذا الكتاب حصيلة جهود كبيرة بذلت في إعداد وإخراج المسلسل التليفزيوني ((الفيزياء للصغار)) من تليفزيون مدينة نوفوسيبيرسك في الاتحاد السوفييتي. لقد استرعى هذا المسلسل اهتمام الصغار والكبار على السواء وحظي بإقبال واسع، فالأعداد الكبيرة من الرسائل التي استلمتها تحتوي على أجوبة وحلول للتمارين، وشروح مفصلة للتجارب والتتبعات التي أجراها الصغار من تلقاء أنفسهم، وعلى أسئلة كان ينبغي الرد عليها في كل حلقة جديدة من المسلسل. أنا مصور سينمائي ولست فيزيائيا. غير أن الاهتمام بعلم الفيزياء ظهر عندي منذ الطفولة وإني مدين بذلك لوالدي الذي علمني بكل ما سيرد ذكره في هذا الكتاب. ليس هذا الكتاب منهجا دراسيا... فهو شرح مبسط لبعض المسائل التي يتناولها علم الفيزياء. ويمكن قراءته على أفراد العائلة مع الأطفال المقبلين على دخول المدرسة والتلاميذ في الصفوف الأولى منها، ويمكن الاستعانة به كذلك في رياض الأطفال وأثناء الأعمال اللاصفية.
